2025 Recipient

Chris Corbould

Fully and bodily exemplifying the adage that one man’s excitement is another man’s day job, the ever-stoic Chris Corbould OBE is a British special effects technician, coordinator and supervisor whose CV reads as a top 100 action films since the 1980s.

Born 5 March 1958, Chris began work as an SFX assistant and, as he is best known for, became attached to the world of James Bond in 1977 with The Spy Who Loved Me, working on all subsequent 14 Bond films to No Time to Die.

It was for The Dark Knight in 2008 that Corbould was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects; an award for which he was again nominated and won for Inception in 2010.

The James Bond films not unused to creating Guiness World Records, Chris manufactured for SPECTRE what became the Largest Film Stunt Explosion; a record that he himself broke in No Time to Die when he lit the fuse to 136.4 kilograms of TNT.

Unrelated, Chris was appointed an OBE in 2014 for services to film.

2024 Recipients

Luciana Paluzzi

Born 10 June, 1937, in Rome, Luciana Paluzzi is a retired actress of prolific acting form. While the larger majority of her films were shot in Italy, to this rarefied audience she is best known her roles in the James Bond film Thunderball and, maybe, the other No Time to Die – both directed by Terence Young.

 

It was her marriage to media mogul Michael Solomon in 1979 that offered an alternative world focus at which point, Luciana retired from acting.

 

Luciana is a lifelong advocate of charitable causes and has been an instrumental friend of 007GB and our club president.

Vic Armstrong

Hugely respected and liked by peers and fans alike, the cheer that Vic Armstrong received on the World Premiere Royal Albert Hall red carpet for Die Another Day was as loud as that which was received by Pierce Brosnan.

Born 5 October 1946, Vic has worked as stunt double / coordinator / arranger, action director, 2nd unit director and director. Perhaps easier to mention those with whom he has not worked, he has nonetheless worked with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise and in Never Say Never Again with Sean Connery and in his last three James Bond films, Pierce Brosnan.

Based in a sprawling estate of heritage buildings and specimen trees in Berkshire, Vic continues to work; most recently on The Rings of Power series and for F. Gary Gray in a new film, Lift.

2023 Recipient

John Glen

Born 15 May, 1932, John Glen is absolutely best known for his work as an editor and director of the James Bond films.

Commencing in 1969 with classic, The Italian Job, John commenced his life with Bond with equal classic, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, as Editor and 2nd Unit Director. Having later edited two of Sir Roger Moore’s films, Gold and Shout at the Devil, John became a permanent fixture of the world of Bond with The Spy Who Loved Me as Editor and 2nd Unit Director. Spurs earned, Cubby promoted John to director for a run of five sequential James Bond films, making him the longest serving director of the 007 franchise; a position and record to be held undoubtedly in perpetuity.

A long-term and frequent supporter of the 007GB Club, John’s is a sterling contribution to the world of film and James Bond.
